Before I fall asleep, emo movie marathon watch I have prepared for myself upon my return to SF. For those of you who don't know, I absolutely love movies about dysfunctional relationships... It's more relatable to me. Ha.

1. Annie Hall - my annual ritual and homage to relationships that don't work out.

2. Happy Together - not really

3. Chasing Amy - haven't seen it in years.

4. Brokeback - maybe? I liked the movie, but never was terribly into it.

Any recommendations?

Okay so I will give you separate categories:

Oscary/Period movies that you probably won't watch (I saw the look you had when I watched them last time!) Haha.

*Atonement (best movie if you want to cry, seriously)
*Becoming Jane

Martial Arts Movies that are kind of (very) emo (but probably not exactly what you were looking for)

* Hero
* Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

BEST MOVIE EVER ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE RELATIONSHIPS (also by Wong Kar Wai, who does emo quite well. So this one might be juuuust right):

***In the Mood for Love***

Of which any I could watch with you! Also, maybe if we watched Annie Hall together I would actually finish it. Haha. Sigh. But seriously.

Oh and I'm getting Once Were Warriors in netflix which might be good to watch. But might be emo in a different way.

Haha, that's it, I've decided. We're watching Annie Hall together, so you'll actually finish it this time :). Also, I think I might go on a Wong Kar Wai binge, too. I have Chungking Express - is that emo? I've been told by both you and another friend that I'd like In the Mood for Love. Score.

Farewell My Concubine--all about different kinds of emotional pain

In a Lonely Place--black and white film; one of the lesser known Humphrey Bogart pictures. It's about a relationship that doesn't work out because the main characters' base personality are irreconcilable

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button--I liked this, though it will feel 'slow' to some.

Maybe The World According to Garp? I liked the book, mostly, but the movie didn't seem to do too well (I haven't seen it myself).

Oh, this is Vicky, btw.

Oooh World According To Garp is actually one of my favorite books. Never seen the movie myself, either. Never heard of the rest of them (well, yes to Farewell my Concubine, but I have no idea what it's about). Yay all kinds of emotional pain, gotta get working on this.
